It looks like even Apple is thinking ‘green’, by presenting a cool new gadget for your iPod, the solar iPod Charger, or Surge Charger. The charger will be hitting the shelves at the end of this month for the iPod. iPhone owners have to wait until the end of the year before a version for the iPhone will be ready.

The Surge Chargers has all the external controls like a standard iPod case, only is it outfitted with solar panels on the back. The energy harnessed from sunlight is stored in a lithium-ion battery that holds 120 percent of the iPods internal battery capacity.

As a iPhone owner and gadget lover, a green gadget for the iPhone is just what I needed. It’s unfortunate that I have to wait until the end of the year before I can test this gadget out. In the mean time I have to do with regular electricity for my iPhone from the grid.
