View on religion (my view)

Firstly you must know that this is one way you can look at it, and it doesn’t have to be the right way of looking at it. All I want to say is “Keep an open mind while you read this!”, lets start with nothing at follow my lead, whether you approve with it or not…

Religion, as I see it, is one of man’s biggest creations of all time. To believe in something, a higher deity or that you are kidnapped by aliens, is something where we humans can draw strength from, can find pity and sorrow in and can unite us against foreign treats.

But where did it all come from? I mean we can’t just made it all up, can we?

If we go way back to the Stone Age, we humans were too stupid to know how for example lightening works and we thought the must logical thing we could think of: somebody is shooting lightening at us. Quickly that somebody turned into a godlike figure, because who else could throw lightening at us?

In the times of the Egyptians, there were multiple Gods, for each segment of human life one; a Sun-God, for giving us sunlight, a Love-God to give us good fortune and love, and so on…

These Godlike figures weren’t uncommon at the time, the Greeks had their Gods, the Vikings theirs and the same goes for the Romans.

Sometimes, one way of life became more popular than the other, so one religion had more followers than the other.

If you look back in the history books you can see that before mainstream Christianity existed there were multiple streams of believes, each a little different than the other. By adding and tossing off rituals here and there, one or two religions remained in the end.

You probably think by now that religion is just a big hoax and nothing good can be associated with it, but you’re wrong.

I think that religion does many good things, despite all the religious conflicts in the world. For example, believing in something gives you hope, and Hope is one of our biggest drivers we have. By hoping, we survive the bad times so we can live the good times. Next to that, religion unites people and brings people (with the same religion) together. Also religion can guide you, by following the way of the religion.

Despite all the good things it can bring you, I think we must not believe something we can not see. I believe that we must lay our faith in ourselves, we as humans. I think you can better believe in a person than in a godly figure.

After all, We made our selves believe that Gods exist, so We made temples for them and we made Huge Monuments to worship them… So open your eyes and see what we are capable of….

Believe in yourself and your fellow humans around you, together we will prevail!
